Jennifer Palmer, PMHNP-C

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Las Vegas and Summerlin

Compassionate, Personalized Psychiatric Care for Every Stage of Life

Mental health is deeply personal, and finding a provider who truly listens can make a meaningful difference.

I'm Jennifer Palmer, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Stepping Points Psychiatry in Las Vegas, Nevada.

I bring nearly 20 years of experience in healthcare, with a background in critical care, emergency medicine, respiratory therapy, nursing, pediatrics, and community health. I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from Nightingale College in 2026.

My clinical interests include Womens mental health, ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, First Responder, trauma treatment, and psychiatric medication management.

I believe mental health treatment should consider the whole person. Emotional well being is influenced by physical health, life experiences, relationships, stress, sleep, and daily habits.

My goal is to help patients feel heard, understand their symptoms, and develop a treatment plan that supports meaningful, lasting improvement.

TMS Therapy for Depression in Las Vegas and Summerlin

For individuals living with depression that has not responded adequately to medication or psychotherapy, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) may provide another treatment option.

At Stepping Points Psychiatry, I help patients explore treatment options for depression, including TMS consultations and the evaluation process for treatment resistant depression.

TMS is a noninvasive treatment that uses targeted magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain involved in mood regulation. It does not require general anesthesia, and patients typically remain awake throughout treatment.

Unlike psychiatric medications, TMS does not expose the entire body to a medication. This may make it an option worth exploring for individuals who have experienced inadequate improvement or difficulty tolerating antidepressants.

Understanding Treatment Resistant Depression

Treatment resistant depression generally describes depression that has not improved adequately after appropriate trials of antidepressant treatments.

Symptoms may include persistent sadness, loss of interest, fatigue, impaired concentration, sleep disturbances, and difficulty managing everyday responsibilities.

When someone has struggled with ongoing depression, I believe it is important to review previous treatment experiences, explore contributing factors, and discuss additional evidence based options.

My goal is to help patients understand the potential benefits, limitations, and risks of TMS so they can make informed decisions about their treatment.

If you continue experiencing depression despite previous treatment, contact Stepping Points Psychiatry to discuss a TMS consultation in Las Vegas.

ADHD Testing and Medication Management for Adults and Women

ADHD is frequently associated with difficulty concentrating, but its effects can extend into organization, emotional regulation, relationships, motivation, and everyday responsibilities.

Many women reach adulthood without recognizing that longstanding struggles with attention, time management, overwhelm, or emotional regulation may be associated with ADHD.

I have a particular clinical interest in identifying ADHD in adult women whose symptoms may have been overlooked or attributed to anxiety, depression, or chronic stress.

My evaluations consider developmental history, current symptoms, functional impairment, and other medical or psychiatric conditions that can contribute to attention difficulties.

When appropriate, treatment may include medication management, behavioral strategies, psychoeducation, and psychotherapy.

My goal is not simply to identify a diagnosis, but to help patients better understand how their symptoms affect their daily lives and develop practical strategies for improvement.

EMDR and Trauma Informed Psychiatric Care

Trauma can affect emotional regulation, relationships, sleep, concentration, self perception, and physical well being long after the original experience.

I provide trauma informed psychiatric care for individuals experiencing PTSD, anxiety, distressing memories, and difficulties related to past experiences.

My treatment approach may incorporate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy, and other evidence informed interventions when clinically appropriate.

EMDR is a structured psychotherapy approach designed to help individuals process distressing experiences and reduce trauma related symptoms.

I recognize that trauma does not affect everyone the same way. Treatment should respect each person's readiness, preferences, history, and individual goals.

Women's Mental Health Across the Lifespan

Women's mental health can be influenced by hormonal changes, emotional demands, family responsibilities, relationships, and major life transitions.

My clinical interests include:

  • ADHD in adult women

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Pregnancy and postpartum mental health

  • Perimenopause and menopause related mental health concerns

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Emotional regulation and burnout

  • Sleep disturbances

  • Stress associated with caregiving and family responsibilities

I approach these concerns by considering both psychiatric symptoms and the broader physical and social factors that may influence mental health.

Psychiatric Care for Children and Adolescents

Children and adolescents may experience emotional and behavioral difficulties that affect school, friendships, family relationships, and daily functioning.

With a background that includes pediatric and school nursing, I understand the importance of recognizing concerns early and considering the child's developmental stage.

My clinical interests include ADHD, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, and trauma related symptoms.

I emphasize developmentally appropriate assessment, family involvement when indicated, and individualized treatment planning.

Psychiatric Medication Management

Medication management is an ongoing process that requires careful assessment, communication, and monitoring.

My approach includes reviewing symptoms, medical history, previous medication experiences, potential side effects, and individual treatment preferences.

When medication is appropriate, we work together to identify treatment options and monitor response over time.

I also recognize the importance of psychotherapy, sleep, nutrition, physical activity, and behavioral interventions in comprehensive psychiatric care.

Weight Maintenance and Behavioral Health After GLP1 Treatment

Maintaining weight loss involves more than nutrition and exercise. Emotional eating, stress, trauma, sleep difficulties, and ADHD related challenges can influence long term health behaviors.

I have a clinical interest in supporting individuals who have reached their weight goals following GLP1 treatment or other weight management interventions.

My approach focuses on behavioral health, emotional regulation, sustainable routines, body image, and identifying psychological factors that may interfere with maintaining progress.

Care may include counseling, psychiatric assessment, and coordination with other healthcare professionals when appropriate.

Supporting First Responders and Healthcare Professionals

My years of experience in healthcare have given me an appreciation for the emotional demands faced by people working in high stress environments.

First responders, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals may experience burnout, anxiety, sleep problems, depression, or trauma related symptoms.

I provide a supportive setting where professionals can discuss their concerns and explore individualized treatment options.

What to Expect During Your First Appointment

Your first psychiatric appointment is an opportunity to discuss your concerns in a respectful, supportive environment.

We will review your symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, current medications, previous treatment experiences, and goals.

I believe patients should understand their treatment options and participate actively in decisions about their care.

Recommendations may include psychiatric medication management, psychotherapy, ADHD evaluation, additional assessment, or discussion of advanced treatment options such as TMS.
