Compassionate Psychiatric Care Focused on You

Finding the right psychiatric provider is an important step toward feeling better. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood changes, or the effects of trauma, you deserve care that considers your individual experiences, concerns, and treatment goals.

I'm Martin Apt, a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Stepping Points Psychiatry in Las Vegas, Nevada.

I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University in 2023 and have three years of experience providing psychiatric care. My approach combines careful assessment, individualized medication management, and consideration of the physical, emotional, and lifestyle factors that influence mental health.

I believe effective psychiatric treatment begins with listening, understanding your concerns, and working together to develop a plan that fits your needs.

TMS Therapy for Depression in Las Vegas and Summerlin

Depression does not always respond to traditional treatments. For individuals who continue struggling despite antidepressant medications or other interventions, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) may offer another treatment option.

At Stepping Points Psychiatry, I help patients explore advanced treatment options, including TMS therapy for depression and treatment resistant depression.

TMS is an FDA cleared, noninvasive treatment that uses targeted magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain involved in mood regulation. Unlike medication, TMS does not circulate throughout the body, and treatment generally does not require anesthesia or sedation.

Patients remain awake during treatment and can typically resume their normal activities afterward.

A Different Approach to Treatment Resistant Depression

Living with depression that has not improved despite treatment can feel discouraging. Some individuals experience persistent sadness, loss of motivation, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, sleep disturbances, or reduced enjoyment of activities.

TMS may be appropriate for certain patients who have not achieved adequate improvement with antidepressant medication.

My approach involves understanding previous medication trials, reviewing current symptoms, assessing treatment response, and discussing whether TMS may be an appropriate part of a comprehensive psychiatric treatment plan.

What to Expect From TMS Treatment

TMS therapy typically involves a series of outpatient treatment sessions over several weeks, although the schedule depends on the specific treatment protocol.

Before beginning, patients undergo a clinical evaluation to determine whether treatment is appropriate and to review possible risks, including headaches, scalp discomfort, and rare but serious complications such as seizures.

TMS can be incorporated into an individualized psychiatric treatment plan that may also include medication management and psychotherapy.

My goal is to help patients understand their options and make informed decisions about their mental health care.

If depression has not responded adequately to medication, contact Stepping Points Psychiatry to discuss whether a TMS consultation may be appropriate.

ADHD Evaluation and Medication Management in Las Vegas

ADHD can affect more than concentration. It can influence organization, emotional regulation, relationships, academic performance, and daily responsibilities.

I provide comprehensive ADHD evaluations and individualized medication management for children, adolescents, and adults.

An evaluation includes reviewing symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, and other conditions that may contribute to attention difficulties.

When medication is appropriate, we discuss available treatment options, monitor effectiveness and side effects, and adjust the treatment plan according to individual needs.

Treatment for Anxiety, Depression, and Mood Disorders

I work with patients to understand the concerns affecting their lives and identify appropriate treatment options.

Personalized Psychiatric Medication Management

Medication management is more than prescribing medication. It involves understanding your symptoms, medical history, previous treatment experiences, preferences, and goals.

My approach emphasizes shared decision making, appropriate medication selection, ongoing monitoring, and education about treatment benefits and potential risks.

At Stepping Points Psychiatry, additional treatment options, including psychotherapy and TMS consultations, may be discussed when clinically appropriate.

What to Expect at Your First Appointment

Your initial psychiatric evaluation is an opportunity to talk openly about what you have been experiencing.

We will review your symptoms, relevant medical and mental health history, current medications, previous treatments, and goals for care.

Together, we will discuss diagnostic findings and develop an individualized treatment plan. Recommendations may include medication management, psychotherapy, additional evaluation, or coordination with other healthcare professionals.

My goal is for you to leave your appointment with a clearer understanding of your concerns and the available treatment options.
